hey Dan, I’m fairly sure that Dr. Seuss was being negative on people choosing to wait.

Let me continue to quote “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!”:

Everyone is just waiting.
No! That’s not for you!
Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying.
You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing.
With banner flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high!
Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

Yeah, Dr. Seuss would rather we act than wait. Dan, grab yourself a copy of the book. Even as a children’s story, it’s the most motivational book you can finish in 5 minutes.

I don’t think Dr. Seuss was saying waiting is bad at all. Just describing situations where one waits. A handful of those were situations where the waiting person was holding themselves up. But most were just a function of life. I think both Kafka and Seuss were pretty ambivalent regarding waiting… at least in the pieces you quoted in your post.

Just a quick update to my Kafka vs Dr. Seuss post…our waiting game is over. We are heading to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

After a summer vacation motorhoming around “this home” for June, we’ll fly out of Frankfurt, Germany and set up house in Halifax.
That said, we still have our fingers crossed that we’ll find ourselves in New York, NY someday.

Small world – my wife’s from NS as well. Nappan I think it was, eons ago, before she got hooked up with this Yankee. I stole her heart while we taught English in South Korea. What brought you to India? India – now That is one exciting place!
